Addictions

Addictions and strong habits are destructive to the quality of life most people would want to live.  Habits can be broken in less than a month, with a strong will power and change of behavior.  Addictions have a much stronger hold on people, so much so that medical professionals have designated them as diseases.  My expertise is not in the medical field, so I will not tread there.  Here is what I know:  the human mind is superior to the most sophisticated computer you could ever imagine.  The heart, that the Bible so often speaks of, is not the organ that pumps our blood, but is actually the mind, the seat of all emotions.  It is here that the Spirit of God invades the lives of believers, and as we understand it more clearly, we are in position to break every yoke of bondage.  Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”  Sadly, most Christians have no concept of this truth.  One who has truly been set free by the power of God, no longer has to go around saying, “I am an alcoholic,” or “I am a drug addict,” but can say, “The Son has made me free, and I’m free indeed.”
