The Marvelous Works of God

Psalm 139 seems to have four natural divisions of six verses each. The divisions could be entitled, The Lord knows us, The Lord is with us, The Lord made us, and the Lord will lead us. The overall message of the Psalm seems to be the complete wisdom and jurisdiction of God. From the time we are but an embryo in the womb unto the way everlasting, God is there with His hand upon us, loving us in spite of the fact that He knows all about us. Ephesians 2:7 tells us it’s all because He intends, in the ages to come, to show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. That means, not only are we blessed now with the sufficiency of His grace and the joy of His presence, but for all eternity we will be a testimony to all the heavenly beings of God’s amazing grace. God is glorified and we are blessed! What a deal! In Psalm 139:6, there is a statement that says what any of us want to say, when we realize the marvelous works of God: “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, it is high, I cannot attain it.”
