Jesus said, “If any man will be my disciple, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” The cross that we are to take up is the price-tag attached to being a follower of Christ. It is the price-tag of some people not understanding us and others just flat out rejecting us. It may cost us anything from acceptance in certain circles to our very lives, but Jesus said that’s what we sign on to, when we set out to be His follower. It is quite obvious that many people aren’t willing to do it, but what makes some willing to do? For every price there is an offset of reward, and the reward is always greater than the price. One must experience it to really believe it, but simply knowing God in a personal, intimate way is the greatest reward.
