Self is often our greatest interest and our greatest enemy.  It is not wrong to love ourselves, as a matter of fact it is right.  Jesus said that we are to love our neighbor as ourself.  Simple logic would indicate that in order to have a proper love for others, we must first have a proper love of self.  Romans 12:1-2 are verses that have reached out and captivated me, and I believe, say as much about our proper attitude to God and self, as any two verses in the Bible.  It is not a one time thing, it is a daily, moment by moment business.  The result is a wonderful sense of being in the will of God, and that’s so good that words can’t express it, people just have to find out for themselves.   There is really only one hinderance – self.
