Two-Sided Coin

Proverbs is one of the books of wisdom literature in the Bible and is often referred to as, “The Book Of Wisdom.”   In the very first chapter it says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”   It is impossible to be wise about anything you do not know about, however it would be possible to know about something, yet not be wise about it.  The fear of the Lord (right understanding about the Lord) is the great motivator to want to know what you ought to know, and it is the guide the Holy Spirit uses to enable you to apply what you know to your life’s situation, which adds up to wisdom.   That same verse in Proverbs chapter one says, “But fools despise wisdom and discipline.”   It truly is a discipline to do the things that we need to attain a spiritual sharpness, but doing those things is very wise.  To refuse to do them, well, that’s the other side of the coin.
