Rendering Dues

Rom 13:7 “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.”

This Bible verse says a lot about how to live pleasing to God within the society of which we are a part.  It tells how to get along in this world.  Obedience to this single verse could make the world such a much nicer place to live.

The problem, of course, is that one must first render to God that which is due Him, before he can properly render to anybody else.   Exactly what is due God?  Everything!  All we are, all we have, all we will ever be or have.  Is that too much?  Most folks say, “Yes, that’s too much.”  Those who say that it is too much have a wrong understanding of the character of God.  He is the ultimate giver.  As a matter of fact, there is nothing one could ever give God, that God hasn’t already given him, first.  Not only that, but there is a principle in the word of God that no one can possibly give God more than God will give back to him.  For instance, Luke 6:38 says, “Give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together, and running over!”  This is not just in the area of money, but in every area of life.  This is the spiritual law of sowing and reaping.

Would you like to be truly blessed of God?  Would you like to live without a lot of the pressures that most people live under?  You may be thinking that the only benefit for being a child of God is when you go to heaven after you die.  I would challenge you to search the word of God and look for the promises of God that pertain to this life.  My prayer for you today is that you will have a holy hunger for God’s word, understanding that is His word is His will, and that you will get in your heart by meditating on it.  I challenge you to read Psalm 1:1-3.  Render God His dues.
