Before God began to create the things we are told about in the Bible, the earth was without form and empty. How do you describe something that has no form and is empty? And, there was some water. Genesis 1:2 says, “The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Then, we are told that on the first day, God created light, then on the second day, He created the sky.
When God created the sky, it was initially to separate the waters. It separated the water below from the water above it. Where is this water above it? It may be that we’ve not been that high, nor have we any instruments that can see that high.
The Psalmist, in Psalm 19 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork.” In all that God did, He was showing forth His glory. It has always been about Him. It was about Him in creation, and it will be about Him at the last judgement. The sky seems to be everywhere. When a space ship leaves earth atmosphere and gets into the region that we know as outer space, there is still sky. When you look into the sky, be reminded of the Glorious, Omnipresent, Wonderful, Creator: The Lord God.
