We had an Awana Auction for our kids at church, last Wednesday night, where they were able to bid on some trinket-type toys with monopoly-type money. They had gotten this money over a period of time for doing such things as bringing their Bibles, bringing a friend, memorizing verses, etc. It was fun watching them bid, because some of them didn’t have a clue as to how bidding really works. The auctioneer would say, “Who will give me a dollar?” and one of them would say, “Fourteen dollars!” To expedite things, our workers put a number of things in sacks and bid them off as “package deals.” Whoever got the sack, got the contents.
Our relationship with God is a wonderful package deal. Last week, I studied and meditated on 2 Peter 1:3, which tells us that God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. The more I think on that, the better I realize it is!
Like the Awana kids bidding in the auction, far too many Christians have no clue about God’s vast provision for those who are His, therefore, they live far beneath their privileges.
Exactly what is you need for life? God has provided it! What do you need for godliness? God has provided it. Second Peter 1:4 says that God has given us assurance of it by giving us great and precious promises. Standing on the promises is more than a song, it is the way of victory for the believer.
