There are some interesting and revealing things said about the name of Jesus in the Bible. Acts 4:12 says, “It is the only name given among men whereby we must be saved.” Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that the name Jesus is “the name that is above every name,” a name before which every knee should bow and every tongue confess.
Acts 3 tells of a man, who had been crippled all his life, getting healed in front of one of the temple gates. In verse 12, Peter and John told the people that it was not their power or their godliness by which the man was healed. In verse 16, they tell how the man was healed. It was by faith in the name of Jesus.
The name of Jesus is the authority of Jesus. When we pray in Jesus’ name, we approach God in His authority. Jesus has given us the permission to use His name.
Have you ever experienced the advantage of being able to use somebody’s name for your benefit? I’ve been in situations, where just by telling someone that a certain person suggested I come to see them, made all the difference. There is no name that will make a difference like the name of Jesus.
