When Jacob realized that he was wrestling with the Lord, he said, “I will not let you go except You bless me.”  He had been trying to get away, but then he started trying to hang on.  The Lord did bless Jacob, and as a sign of that blessing he touched the hollow of his thigh, so that Jacob came away with a limp.  I’m sure when people looked a Jacob limping along, it didn’t look like he had experienced blessing, but he had.

I have found that our blessings don’t always look like blessings on the surface, even to us.  In all honesty, we have to admit that some of the events in life that we would have been least likely to have chosen, turn out to be a source of great blessing.

Someone has well said, “When you can’t trace His hand, you can trust His heart.”  Praise the Lord, who works all things together for our good.
